Lead soil stack flashing

A custom fabricated lead soil vent stack flashing installed on a steep slate roof near Cleveland, Ohio.
Premade lead flashings for steep roofs are not readily available at most roofing supply stores so this one was fabricated from lead sheet metal in the shop. The flashings that are available are either plastic, aluminum or galvanized flshings with neoprene collars that fit around the pipe. These will last about fifteen to twenty years, depending on the application, and then need to be replaced. The flashing that was removed from this vent pipe was the original and about eighty years old before the lead wore out and needed to be replaced.
